How is it May already?! Can you believe how fast this year is going by! Before we know it, it’s gonna be Christmas! And so much has already happened in the first four months of this year! I got married, quit my job, moved to NYC… I can bet it is not about to slow down. And as we have entered the wedding season, because I got married myself and will attend a wedding later this summer, I am going to share with you my best tips to getting wedding ready.
So, how do you get wedding ready, from skincare routine, to skin prepping, and makeup for the bride or as a guest? And why not to find the perfect beauty wedding gifts? Let me and Cosmetify help you out with that!
What is Cosmetify you may ask?
Cosmetify is a beauty discovery website that places over 100,000 products from thousands of brands directly at your fingertips! With a wide range available on one platform, they are the search engine for beauty lovers, providing everything you need from makeup to hair, grooming to skin care and electricals to toiletries.
I have to be honest. When it comes to beauty and skincare, I sort of suck. Yes, no shame. I grew up in a family where my mother was not really into beauty nor wore makeup. Thus, I got into it pretty late. Even though I barely do anything beauty and skincare-wise I must admit. Growing up in France, the maximum we’d do is a bit of BB Cream, some mascara and red lipstick. Thus, when it came to building up a proper look and getting into a good skincare routine, I never know where to look for products and where to shop. Somewhere that would have everything in one place and make it super convenient. Cosmetify offers just that, which is why I am taking part of their Wedding Ready campaign.
For your legs
As previously said, my wedding ready routine is pretty simple with just a few major stages that I can’t skip. It always starts with waxing, which requires some good skin prepping. The skin must be exfoliated, moisturized and healthy so that all the hair will come out smoothly. I recommend to exfoliate with a good scrub and an exfoliating glove at least twice a week during the three weeks prior to the waxing. Before and after, don’t forget to moisturize. If you don’t want to go to the beautician, fear not, Cosmetify has a selection of hair removal devices so that you can do it all at home!
For your face
Getting into a routine very close to the wedding will not be very helpful. If you want to get into a particular routine, do it at least a month before. Two months before would be even better. I’d recommend you do a face mask twice a month at least and to exfoliate your face once a week. I clean my face with Micellar water each morning and evening and never go to bed with makeup still on. If you want to use soap or gel to clean your face, choose one that is specifically adapted to your face.
What I usually do it is go for a facial something like a month before the wedding, to get rid of dead skin, pimples and black spots. That way, my skin has time to recover and the redness to go away. However, facials are quite expensive so you can try some solutions at home beyond exfoliating and face masks with face patches and kits. Bioré and Nivea are quite good at those.
As I said, my makeup, when I put some on, is always very basic. BB Cream, Mascara and red lipstick are my go to… simply because I don’t have the skills to do much more. If I feel bold, I’ll do a wing with eyeliner but that’s pretty much it. When it comes to makeup, wear whatever you feel comfortable with. Also remember that summer wedding, especially in the south, are very hot so adjust your makeup accordingly.
Or you can go to a makeup artist.
For the finishing touches
At my own wedding, I had my hair down. I had just gone to the hair dresser so the only thing I did what put some finishing spray to make sure my hair would not budge. At my cousin’s wedding last year, I arranged my hair around a braided headband and again, used spray to fix it all.
I always choose my nail polish according to the outfit. I wore a navy dress at my wedding and my nails were burgundy. At my cousin’s wedding, my dress was cream and shoes were green so I picked a very pale pink nail polish. Again, it all depends on your outfit, your mood, the season, your tastes.
Finally, perfume… I have had the same fragrances since I turned 15 and I sort of never changed. I’ve got two, Mademoiselle Dior and La Petite Robe Noire from Guerlain. They are my signature scents and always stick to them. However, if I was to pick a new perfume, being invited to a wedding would be the perfect occasion to try something new… and why not find the perfect gift for the bride or the groom.
Because Cosmetify has an incredibly large selection of gifts for all occasions, tastes and ages. Let’s admit it, attending a wedding is always quite expensive. You need to get wedding ready, need the perfect outfit, need to go there, etc. So when it comes to making the wedding present, if you are a young grad with a tight budget, and although you really want to chip in for the honeymoon in Bali, you may not be able to afford it. That’s when Cosmetify comes in with as many gift options as you need to find the perfect one!
And you, how do you get wedding ready? Do you have any wedding coming up? Where about? Have you found the dress yet? Had you heard about Cosmetify before? ever shopped with them?
Thanks a lot for stopping by. Hope you liked this post.
