Remember that holiday we had planned in Puerto Rico? The one I mention in a previous post? Well, we had to cancel. Hurricane Fiona. Instead, we decided last minute to go to Charleston, South Carolina. A colleague of mine recommended the city and so we gave it a go. While we made our decision on Sunday and flew out the next day, my wardrobe was not picked up at the last minute. I received some very beautiful bits from Chicwish which have made some great end of summer outfits!
To be honest, even though some of the pieces definitely scream of summer, other will work just fine in the fall. Now, that it has started and that we’re in the spooky season. Maybe you don’t know, but Halloween is a very big thing in the US. As a result, New York City’s building don incredible spooky decorations and displays. In case you’re interest, I wrote a blog post last year on the 15 best Halloween decorations in New York City!
But let’s get back to the topic at hand!
I did receive some new pieces from chicwish, which I think are incredible! Summery, automnal, versatile, so many adjectives will categorize the outfits below!
For a summer date night
This dress, oh my god, this dress! I had spotted it some time ago but kind of hesitated to get it. I am 5 ft 5. Not too tall, not too short. But would I be tall enough to be able to walk in this beautiful floral print dress without stepping on the hem? Or would I always need to wear heels, which are not always practical.
In any case, I took the plunge and got the dress. And it is beautiful. It is very long, very flowy and very light. The skirt is fully lined so that it is not see-through and closed with the tie behind the neck. It also comes with a matching fabric belt to tie under the chest. The print is mostly made of sunflower and the dress is perfect for a date night in the summer!

For a stroll in Soho
After getting a maxi skirt and realizing that not only it fits me well but also is not too long, I decided to add another one to my collection. This time, the print is more suitable to the fall with a color pattern around the color orange. The print is still floral but the main vibe still is fall. The skirt is fully lined and is perfect for twirling or adding movement to an outfit.
I paired the maxi skirt with a cute asymmetric bardot top. I honestly always struggle a bit when it comes to styling orange, or building an entire outfit around an orange piece. So I felt like white was the best way to go. A pair of simple black ballet pump bring a finishing touch and is perfect to explore Soho while we enter the fall.

You know me. I love big puffy dresses and skirt, with layers of organza or tulles. So you imagine that the moment I laid my eyes on this skirt, I had to get it! It gives me some Carrie vibes from the early episodes of Sex & The City. And this tulle skirt can be styled or paired up with many different tops and accessories, so really, it is a win!
On this occasion, I decided to style the skirt with a black knot bustier. It zips at the back and has some silicone laying the trims to make sure it stays in place. Bonus point because you don’t need to wear a bra underneath. All in all, I love this outfit and I feel the edginess of the bustier goes very well with the princess vibe of the dress!

Maybe it is not me, but black brings some chic to any outfit. A black outfit always looks more elegant if not more dramatic, but it does not mean it has to be all black. It is totally okay to bring some colors in the form of a print for example.
That is exactly what I did when I paired up the bustier mentioned above with another maxi skirt with a floral print. The print is made of red, yellow and pink roses on the black background. The length is perfect so the skirt can be worn with heels or flats!
