Look closer. Yes, even closer. On the photo I mean. Come on, you can do it, CLO-SER! Do you see anything? No! Oh well, me neither! But there is still something! Yup, it is not because you can’t see it on the photo that it is not there. Who, you ask? My hair. Black, dark, long leg hair! Because the day I had this photoshoot, I was not waxed! And the last time I was, was a month ago! And I could not care less!
If you are a regular, you know how it works. If you are not, let me enlighten you. Waxing is not like shaving. When you wax, you remove the whole hair up to the root, which means you need to wait quite some time before it all grows back again. Sometimes a few weeks. And then you need the hair to be at least 0.5mm long so that the wax can actually catch it. But because it would not be fun otherwise, not all hair grows at the same speed and some times, you need to wait longer just to make sure they all show up! Then you’re good for another booking!
But what do you do while you wait? Do you hide those babies about to become full grown hair under a pair of jeans in that heat? Do you suffer the suffocated heat out there because your legs are not smooth? Who cares about hair after all? Well a lot of people! And not so long ago, I did too!
Until very recently, I always felt uncomfortable and embarrassed if I had one hair showing. I could and will blame the stigma around female hairiness as reason why. We grow up with that idea in mind that women should not keep their hair, that it is dirty, unaesthetic, repulsive, etc. Not so positive then and the source of so many insecurities.
But you know what? I am too old for that sh*t! My hair is not killing or harming anyone. It is not preventing anyone to live their life! And even if some people’s sensibilities might be hurt by me not complying to their idea of what a woman should be looking, I am not going to be suffering that heat in jeans!
You do you boo. Let them judge. Your above it and have no time for that.
So yeah, during this photoshoot, I showed my hairy legs. People might have seen, might have cared, might have judged. I might have felt a bit uncomfortable to start with and stressed that someone would see and judge. And then the heat hit me. Yes, I felt way fresher bare legs than under a tight pair of jeans!
Also, waxing is expensive!
Also, hair that grows back is super itchy!
Free the hair!
In that heat, I don’t say anything when I see men walk around bare-chester – which is sometimes frankly disgusting – so please, let me and my hair alone! Let people enjoy their summer without feeling insecure or uncomfortable! My next waxing is in two weeks and in the meantime, I’ll have hairy legs. And I will still wear dresses and skirts!
One last time. There is nothing wrong with hair. It’s too hot to wear jeans. You actually don’t need justification. Be you, do you.
I am done.

What do you think? Do you feel bad when you are not perfectly waxed? Do you still go bare legs when they are not hairless? What’s your take on it?
Thanks a lot for stopping by. I hope you liked this post.
See you soon,
Best,
Corinne
I love this! I’ve always gotten so frustrated over having to wear long sleeve T-shirt’s if my arms aren’t waxed or something! Honestly, we shouldn’t even feel pressured to wax- everyone should be able to do what they like with their hair! Thank you for this post! xx
That’s a great combination of text and photos. All ingredients of a great blog post.
Oh, that is absolutely hilarious! This was me the other day, as I contemplated putting on jeans over a dress. In the end, I put on my dress and just walked out the door like that! Way too hot for that nonsense!
I love your outfits 🙂
It’s been a few years since I embraced the hairiness, and it’s so freeing. No more mild panic about having to run a razor over my legs before baring them.

You’re an inspiration!! I’m currently 8 months pregnant and I am doing some crazy contortions trying to keep my leg hair in check… and NO ONE CARES!!! Ugh. Giving up the razor for the home stretch of this pregnancy.
I never wax! I shave my legs when I remember, but there are many times when I go out in shorts with hair. It doesn’t bother me anymore. You look fabulous, hair and all!
Lifes too short to stress about anything. Your hair looks great! Continue to rock it as you please 🙂
WOW GIRL YES YOU TELL EM. I loved this post, I also used to feel insecure with hairy arms or legs, now I’m just like who cares?! Thanks for the empowering words.

What a great post! I completely agree that it is absolutely not worth it to stress about any of this, there are way more important things for everyone to focus on than just hair.
You look gorgeous Corinne! The colourful dress is one of my favourites, it looks awesome with the red denim too. I’m totally with you on this, I might shave my legs if it’s a special occasion but usually I’m not too bothered about it. Great post girl ? xx

I’ve recently stopped caring about this quite as much. Granted, I don’t usually go bare legged when they look like a gorilla, but I’ve never had a single person comment that I needed a shave. I do often opt for maxi dresses, so that helps hide it a little.
Free the hair, oh I LOVE this post! I stopped waxing a few years ago because of the long wait in between times. Now I use an ALDI epilator (£15!) and it is fab. It’s also so much faster than waxing, can be done at home when convenient, and is far less painful as you’re only pulling out a small amount of hair at a time instead of a whacking great strip. That said, I have been going around with hairy legs too this summer, it’s been too hot to even think about hair removal! You look gorgeous in your photos and, as you say, it’s nothing to do with anyone else. Fab post! xx

Wow, this is so inspirational! Go you!! I’ve never actually waxed before, I’ve always shaved my legs but when it comes to the times when you need to – it’s such a paaain! It’s so time consuming too, haha. I don’t really stress about it too much now, but when I was younger, I remember it being such a worry, when I so agree with what you are saying here. It shouldn’t be a worry at all! Also, great photos! Love the outfit 🙂

Great post, this is so inspirational honestly! I’ve always shaved, it’s the waiting for hair to grow with waxing that turned me off of it. It shouldn’t be a worry at all though! Great post and photos, love the outfit!

My legs could use a shaving right now. My motto is if anyone can see the hair on my legs then they are too darn close to me.
I absolutely love this! I hate that we are made to feel like we HAVE to be totally hairless basically in order to be pretty or womanly or whatever… like I don’t have time to shave daily !
Hahaha! Yeah, we don’t have to do all that hairless crap while guys walk around with hairy everything! I mean, c’mon!
Girl. That is why I do not worry about people’s thohghts when I go to the beach and wears bikini even with my big belly. I can only be me.
I love your attitude! I personally can’t stand it when I’m hairy and it’s so frustrating waiting for them to be long enough to do something about it. You’re so right though, what’s a tiny bit of hair? It’s not bothering anyone x

As for me, I don’t wax or remove my hair in the legs, I just let them be and still wear skirts, shorts or dresses. So I admire you as well for being able to do it confidently!
I love your article! And you are so right! We should wear what we want, when we want; regardless of the fact if we have body hair or nor!
I actually not bothered with my hair I am happy having that. I don’t mind people says about it. It was given to me and I am happy for what I have.
Literally if I walked past you in the street with you not having shaved your legs I wouldn’t in the LIFE of me notice. I do personally shave everything but shaving my legs is such a chore, I absolutely hate it! I really don’t know why other people care so much about other people’s body hair!
YES to this post. I don’t get why people are so concerned about anything to do with others physical appearance anyway let alone something as minuscule and pointless as hair! Great post and rock those hairy legs girl.
Alice Xx
So proud of you! I used to be so obsessed with being smooth and hairless but honestly I can’t tell you the last time I waxed my legs – it’s such an expensive chore and once I realised that literally no one notices or cares I stopped caring as much!
Jas xx
Lovely photos hun, I don’t wear dresses myself as I don’t feel comfortable in them but if I did it would be one like this! 🙂 I completely agree on what you’re saying here; I’ve always felt pressure to shave off every big of hair and it really annoys me, as its not something I particularly want to do – just something that has been drilled into me from bullying. I hate how people think they have a right to comment on someone else’s appearance!xx

Love this! I have started going out with stubbly legs just because I can’t be bothered to shave them and sometimes I do get a bit nervous in case someone sees but I am learning to be more confident about it. You have got the right attitude about it 100%. Hair isn’t harming anyone and when I shave it off I just get itchy! You look incredible in that outfit too!!
Love the body positivity/confidence in this post and i blame the stigma too around it, i feel like im starting to not worry as much!
I’m so in love with that dress I didn’t even look anywhere else and that would be the same if I walked past you on the street or sat next to you on the bus. I’m nowhere near ready to embrace the hair just yet but I’d love there to be less of a stigma about it.
Men can walk around half naked and hairy as you like but I kick myself and feel mortified if I’ve missed a patch of hair on my leg… societies standards are ridiculous and something has to change.

LOL! OMG! I could stop laughing. Frankly, it’s be more than 2 decades since I gave up shaving my legs. But, then again, having café au lait toned legs helps a great deal to camouflage what little hair I flaunt.
I love this post and you can’t even notice it in any of these photos! I always try my best to be hairless but totally agree that its more about the stigma. On the odd occasion I’ve gone out in a dress and noticed while I’m out that my leg hair has grown ridiculously fast and is visible and have actually justified it by telling myself that it’s unlikely that anyone is even looking at me close enough to notice let alone care!

I couldn’t relate with you more.? Forget about what others think, just do you!
Kicking out our insecurities and being comfortable with ourselves is the way to go. Your spirit is refreshing.
I am the worst at keeping my legs shaved. It’s not uncommon for me to go a week without shaving, and it’s often very noticeable. I’m just to the point where I shave when I want, and if people don’t like it, oh well!
You go girl! My calves are like 10x hairier than the rest of my body, so I finally did laser hair removal and it’s the best money I ever spent! Now if I have a few hairs there I don’t even care, lol.
I think most days I can care less. If I travel or go to a get together I will pay more attention to myself.
I can somewhat relate to hair problems. Over the years, I don’t care much about my hair anymore.
Go girl! I actually don’t see any hair, but I know how you must’ve felt!
My legs never grow hair that long, when I was a teen I wanted to have that, so I shaved it once haha! Good thing it never grows with unwanted length and texture.
I don’t see any hair. All I could see are the bright outfit and the beautiful bamboo bag. And yes, the shades and the earpiece.
I don’t see any hair. All I could see is the bright outfit and the beautiful bamboo bag. And yes, the shades and the earpiece.
You look amazing and I don’t see any hair at all. I used to be worried about how I looked or how people perceived of me, but not anymore. I worry less now. Loving your look there.
I/m trying to look where the hair is.. but my eyes keep getting distracted of the bright colors and the beautiful u.
That’s right! You DON’T need justification! Nobody does. We should always do what feels right, as long as it’s not hurting anyone.
Yes! I rarely shave anymore. It’s so ridiculous that we’re expected to change our bodies so that they are more appealing to others. You go girl!
I love your outfits. We should wear what we want, when we want; regardless of the fact if we have body hair or nor!
Loving the post! I stopped caring years ago. It’s our body and we can do with it whatever we want, if it bothers someone they don’t need to look.
Yeah i used to worry constantly about my legs being hairy when i was younger but as i’ve grown up I have started to care less about it and will happily pop on a dress or a skirt with unshaved legs! The only part of me i really shave is my underarms but that’s more from a personal point of view.
Loving the fact you’re embracing a more natural look though! Still beautiful ?
This was so inspiring! I have long dark leg hair and I don’t like shaving or waxing but it’s honestly hard to be confident about it! I’m gonna take the courage I got from this post and wear some short dresses bc in the end, you’re right! My leg hair hurts no one. Thank you so much for making this.
