Three Reasons Why You Need A Knee-Length Dress*

knee-length dressAs part of my collaboration with Krisp Clothing, I received a knee-length dress that is also red and has polka dots. Basically the winning combo. I must admit, I don’t have many longer dresses. My dresses are either mini or maxi. Massive disturbance in my life, in my routine. Please help me. Joke’s over. So I had to find a way to pull the dress off but also find three excellent reasons to convince you to get one too!

1. It is elegant and chic
The presence you have when you wear a longer dress is definitely not the same you have with a skater dress. There is an aura of maturity, mystery and chic. You can’t put your finger on it, but it is there. It might be because pulling off longer dresses and skirts nowadays is more of a risky fashion exercise, who knows? When I think of knee-length dresses, I see Marilyn Monroe, the thirties or fifties and all the extravagant fashion of that time. And in my head, it is associated with elegance. So maybe it’s just a personal bias!

2. It makes you look taller
The first thing I said when I saw the photos of me in that dress what that I was very tall. While, in reality, not so much. Average lets say. Fashion magazines always advise to either go very long or very short to look taller, but I actually do thing that knee-length and midi skirts really help too! This works especially well of the skirt part of the dress is high waist as it will give the impression that the middle part of your body is much longer than it is. Furthermore, a hemline above the knee will long longer than one below the know. Logic.

3. It is versatile and timeless
Don’t get me wrong. I love short, skater and mini dresses. I own so many of those. And they are perfect for the blog, for the night, for holidays, for strolls in the park. Depending on where you work, they might be totally accepted at work. I am lucky in that sense. But still, they might not always be appropriate. A knee-length dress will always be. No matter the situation. Glamorous, professional, romantic, edgy, extravagant. Basically the sort of dress that you can wear in the office during the day, and jazzed up a bit, on a date at night! Also, it never goes out of fashion!

Agreed?

This is such a beautiful dress and you’re really rocking it! I totally agree that for some reason longer dresses do make you look taller and are that little bit more elegant. They remind me of 1950s photos when they used to have those big puffy knee/shin length skirts, so cute! I really want to invest in one soon, I hope it makes me look a little taller as I’m really quite a shorty haha!

This dress looks great on you! I’m really short but have longer legs and I tend to find wearing something shorter makes me look a lot taller. But, I do own a few knee length items and find them really versatile for dressing up or down depending on the occasion x
