Adopt A Maxi Dress This Fall

maxi dress

Remember when I started this blog? Back in 2018 I think. What a dramatic process that was. Not gonna expand on that but if you want to play guess, you can read this post just right there. My blog is gonna be 2 years old next February, can you believe it?! Anyway, back to this article… Which will talk about that wardrobe staple that is a maxi dress.

So why was I talking about the pasta again? Ah yes! Because when I started this blog, and after I fully made the switch to fashion blogging, I dedicated a blog post on my love for a maxi dress I had bought back then. And for maxi dresses in general.

I might have written on them again and again, in some lookbook and such. And I am coming back today with another lookbook dedicated to maxi dresses and how perfect they are for fall. The main argument in their favor is that you do not need to shave your legs since the dress covers them!

1. All about the denim maxi dress

I have a weird relationship with denim. It’s a mystery for me too, as I can’t explain it. First, I don’t really wear jeans. My reasoning is that they are a hindrance to my freedom of movement. I do not think they are comfortable. Or that they suit me well for that matter. And even though I do think denim looks great and that I very often see pieces that I would love to be able to pull off, it never really works.

For example, I had spotted a gorgeous denim boiler suit in Primark. Love at first sight. I already had ideas of outfit with it. Turns out, it did not suit me at all. Thus, I sort of gave up on denim. Until I went shopping with my grandmother before moving to New York and that she spotted the dress below.

It is soft denim, with frills, a wrap maxi dress belted at the hips. And sure the v-neck cleavage is something, however, I had to admit that for once, denim suited me quite well! What do you think. And since it is a fabric that is thicker than your usual summer dress, it is also the perfect maxi dress to make the transition to autumn when summer is just about to end!

The items featured in this post have for some being gifted to me by Shein (and will be marked as such). You can still get 15% off your order with my code 9TEA (valid with sales items as well).

2. Florals in fall

Florals?  For Autumn? Well, yes! The original quote is never getting old, isn’t it?! I love to wear florals. It is a jump that took me some time to make, but once I had done it, no regret. Whether in spring, summer or winter, I love the floral print! And turns out,  I have a thing for see-through as well!

It is not on purpose, just so you know. Usually I mean. I pick a piece that looks amazing on the website and turns it is see-through when I put it on. And since I also have a thing for dark underwear, then I let you do the math! However, for this one particular maxi dress here?! Hell yes I did it on purpose!

Rest assured though, I did buy an under dress to wear underneath the sheer floral dress. Because it was more than see-through, it was revealing it all. The black slip dress works really well however and I am quite pleased with this outfit. My husband said “this is peak New York” when he saw the outfit. Because of the hat I assume. I think it is romantic grudge meets Parisian women lost in New York. What do you think?

3. Yellow is the new black

I think it is only fitting that as autumn comes around, I start wearing very bright fall colors. Red, orange, maroon, yellow. Although not so long ago I swore I never wore yellow to realize that actually I do sometimes, turns out, I am wearing that shade more and more often! And oh god this dress is of a bright one!

I had my eyes on it for some times but was not sure it would suit me or if I could pull it off. I did like the boho vibe and the shape although I think I would have liked a bit more fitted around the hips, as it is quite large. I assume that is how it is supposed to be anyway.

The maxi dress is a bit on the transparent side as well. You do not see on the photos but my friend Colette who does most of my photos did tell me that she could see my underwear. So I guess that’s part of my style now! I like this dress. I would not wear it everyday but once in a while to bring some color around, absolutely!

I remember when you started this blog and went solo! It was such a shock but your blog is one of my absolute faves now! Love all these maxi dresses, particularly the floral one. I’ve never owned a maxi dress before because I’ve always thought they looked weird on me!

I’ve never tried a maxi dress before but would love to try them now – especially if they were a floral design like yours! It looks super cute!

Oh that yellow one is amazing. I have yet to find a maxi dress that suits me (I mostly look like i’m wearing a tent) but I’m still dreaming of that perfect dress.

I love maxi dressed! I honestly haven’t worn on in ages, but I used to love them. They were soft, freeing and wicked comfy! Love the floral dress!!

Love these photos! I also think that incorporating a maxi dress to my Autumn wardrobe would be a good idea. The long hem protects legs from the cold better than just tights with a short skirt anyway. x

You’ve got some great options here and I am seriously lusting over the jacket you’re wearing with the floral dress. I recently saw a black maxi dress at a local little shop here that I keep coming back to. I might just have to splurge and treat myself…

Oh I love that floral one!!! I recently have been wearing maxi skirts but for some reason didn’t even think of getting a maxi dress? I always thought I was too short – but it turns out they’re okay for me! I agree with you about jeans, they’re not very comfortable xx

I’ve been trying to wear more maxi dresses over the summer – I was always a bit scared I’d feel uncomfortable in them but I actually LOVED wearing them! Definitely going to try and continue wearing them this fall 🙂

The second one looks absolutely stunning on you!

I fully remember you starting this blog and now I’m having a mini meltdown that it was that long ago. I always feel like I’m too short for maxi dresses, or they maybe don’t fit my proportions properly, but I love these picks. The floral one is so pretty and I really like the denim one. I struggle with denim in similar ways to you and think that dress is a really beautiful way of softening denim up and making it more wearable x

I am liking the florals for the fall. If it gets cold you can always wears tights or leggings underneath the maxi dress. I do like the yellow outfit.
