7 Christmas Photo Spots In New York City

Right, I admit it. Before I moved to New York City, I googled all the Instagrammable spots in the City. You know, just to be prepared and know where to go when I’d need photos for Instagram. Well, do not roll your eyes like that. You’d do the same! Even more so around the holidays! So yes, I did also try to find the best Christmas photo spots in New York City.

Again, no shame!

To be honest, it does take time to find those Christmas photo spots at first. But then, after you understand that New York City brings up the same festive decorations every single year, you know pretty well where things are. But in case you do not, I have summed up the best Christmas photo spots in this blog post!

1. W 50 St & 6th  Ave

I stand corrected. Of all the Christmas photo spots I have listed in this post, this one is actually the only new one. Or maybe I did not pay attention last year. But I can pretty much guarantee that those giant sugar canes were not there last  year.

Regardless, despite COVID and the pandemic, this year brought the sugar canes to W 50 St and 6th avenue. Which is pretty excited and bringing us a new super cute photo opportunity location! Perfect for a very festive shot!

2. Lilholts Pooley Pool

This one was already last year. And the year before. And the one before that. It is one of those Christmas photo spots that always comes back. Four greatest pleasure! No need to research location too much since they are always the same! At least in midtown.

Indeed, in places like Greenwhich, independent shops decorate their front differently each year. Notice the big Christmas baubles and the fairy lights all around the tree. Very festive indeed!

3. W 48 St & 6th Ave

I also did had a Christmas photoshoot here last year. I was wearing a sequin dress. Very pretty. I would not have anywhere to wear it this year though! You know, pandemic and all! Anyways… this new outfit is just as pretty and a bit more practical. And it does look great with those giant fairy lights in the background.

Another one of those Christmas photo spots that comes back every single year. I do love the pop of color of the lights. No, they are not actual lights and do not light up. But there is still very pretty and Instagrammable!

4. 1211 Avenue of  the Americas

1211 Avenue of the Americas harbors the prettiest tree! Yes, prettier than the Rockefeller tree! Showcasing hues of blue and red, another notable Christmas decoration are the nutcrackers standing guard! You know, I do love a pretty Christmas tree.

You will indeed find a few more as you read ahead. Again, I did have a photoshoot last year in front of that tree. As pretty as ever! And creating an interesting contrast with the hard concrete and glass buildings in the background!

5. Radio City Music Hall

If you have ever googled instagrammable locations in New York City or followed New York based bloggers, you will have heard of or seen Radio City Music Hall. This building is iconic. During the holidays as well as all year round. Because of the neon lights I guess!

However, during the festive season, it becomes one of the most popular Christmas photo spots in the city as it displays this gorgeous Christmas tree! It is covered in fairy lights that flicker all day long!

6. The Lotte New York Palace

Do we even need to introduce the Lotte New York Palace? I think we all know pretty well what the place is about. We can thank Gossip Girl for that! By the way, will you be watching the reboot? I think I will! I do not have HBO Max yet but I guess,  I can just use the free week-trial! Just kidding!

Not only is the Lotte New York  Palace ground for Gossip Girl drama but it is also one of the prettiest Christmas photo spots in New York City! There tree goes up in November so that you have plenty of time to get your Christmas photos! It  is also always quite packed so I’d advise you to come in early!

7. Cartier, 5th  Avenue

Cartier on 5th avenue is one of the most well-known Christmas photo spots in New York City. First, because fifth avenue always sees a huge footfall. Thus, of course, the spot is going to be in plain sight but also very busy. Second, because Cartier stores all over the world always display great Christmas decors!

Thus, you know that, no matter where you go, Cartier will be a great Christmas shoot location! And I confirm because I shot both in NYC and in London.  The best angle is from the other side  of the road. Here again, I would advise to come for a photo early in the morning to make sure there are not that many people or car.

7. The High Line Hotel

This one of those confidential Christmas photo spots in New York City. You may know that the place exists, but you would not necessarily know that they go full out with Christmas decorations. To be honest, I had no idea until a friend suggested it. Simply because we do not see that many photos of the place.

Anyway, it is a prime Christmas photo spot in New York City. First, it is not always busy, which is amazing. Second, it is a two-in-one spot, even sometimes three-in-one. This is because the outside is gorgeous, the courtyard also is and the café is too. Three birds with one stone!
